About yesterday's posting about the alligators: April Fool! Those babies live in South Carolina, perhaps in a water hazard on a golf course. Our friend Frank sent me the photo saying he no longer retrieves balls that go into those ponds. No, we just have to worry about foxes. It seems they have cleaned out the bunny situation here. We thought they were nocturnal animals, but not so! Make sure you carry a stick when you are out walking.

About Me

- Name: Daphne
- Location: Montego Bay,Ocean City, Maryland, United States
My name is Daphne, I'm a banded killifish living in what is now known as Walkers Pond in Montego Bay, Ocean City, Maryland. Although I may look like a "minnow", I'm not! I am a banded killifish and proud of it! My real name is Fundulus diaphanus, but my friends, the crabs, ducks and other fishes just call me Daphne. My home is very different now than it was 70 years ago. Back then it was a marshy cove in the Assawoman Bay, with rivulets and streams leading to the Atlantic Ocean. Today it is an 8 acre non-tidal pond, with a pipe that connects it to the Assawoman Bay. This small pipe allows my friends small enough to swim through, a place to live. When the pond get too much rainwater (after a storm)the water goes back into the Assawoman Bay via an outfall pipe. The pond is on the migratory path of many species of birds, from Canvasback, Mallards, black ducks to Blue Heron. When you visit, please bring your field glasses and camera.
