INCREDIBLE SAND!
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, we certainly did! Look at that picture of all that beautiful sand. SPN Construction gave this to us from the site of the new library on Coastal Highway. Terry McGean says it will be stockpiled in the park until Public Works has the time to do the spreading. I hope it stays there until the winter storms are over.
Now that's another thing I'm thankful for: If the good Friends hadn't planted the grasses, which have rooted, we would have lost that shoreline from the storm. The picture shows where the most water came up. Since we planted we may have lost a few plants but most of them really look good. Steve Borkowicz keeps the "goose fence" in tact or those Canadas would have eaten everything. They came in like a gigantic eating machine and devoured most of the new grass we planted on the Harbour Drive side of the pond. This wasn't grass in the pond, but a landscaping project.
The ocean must have calmed down since early this morning because I can no longer hear its roar. It actually woke me up this morning! I thought at first it was the fountains so I got dressed and took Franki outside to check. Definitely the ocean!

The following is from Mary Knight our new Councilperson:
I hope that everyone's Thanksgiving was great and holiday shopping is going well.
I wanted to update you on a few items.
1. There has been a lot in the paper about closed versus open sessions and needless to say the entire story is not reported. I did some research and our closed sessions are the authority of State Government Article: Section 10-508 (a) Annotated Code of Maryland. There are 14 reasons to have a closed session with most to do with the purchase of property, individual's privacy, consulting with counsel to obtain legal advice, etc. I can assure you that most items unless it is a personnel issue after the closed session eventually are items on the open session. Every item discussed in the closed session must meet the criterion and if it doesn't then it is on open session agenda.
2. We voted the other evening to change the POD size bay side from 90,000 square feet to 220,000 square feet. This was the first reading and may change a little but I feel that this will better preserve the bay side sanctity. Projects such as the health club at 60th Street will be grandfathered from this new ordinance.
3. The dune under the pier is almost finished and if you drive the Inlet parking lot, you can see that there is still a lot of room so that people can sun themselves.

As usual if you have any questions or concerns please call me on 443 235-0326 or e-mail at mmknight@comcast.net.
REMEMBER "PEOPLE BEFORE POLITICS"
Mary
