SEEING GOD
The picture you see was taken on South Ocean Drive in the area that has become so controversial because a few people are saying “not in my back yard”. This is in reference to; not the revetment, but the walkway that will give access to people that do not have waterfront property. The majority of the 1,523 homes in Montego Bay are not on the water. This particular stretch of land is the only public area that gives access to the Assawoman Bay.
I have delighted in watching families crabbing with hand traps, teen age children fishing quietly, and fathers with their sons probably handing down fishing lessons handed down to them from other generations. Presently the people stand in the street for this bit of recreation. There is no sidewalk; they stand and sit on the bulkhead. To me this was a lesson that life goes on.
To me, closing this area by not allowing the walkway to be built is immoral. We know there will be replacing of this bulkhead because it is not stable and the street is in jeopardy.
There will be a public hearing on this project with the Mayor and Town Council of Ocean City in the near future. Please ride by this area any time of day to see God. If you should just happen to catch a sunset you will know why I’m urging you to attend the public hearing. I will keep you informed of the time and date.
