WINTER SOLSTICE
This is my favorite day of the year: the first day of winter, the shortest day of the year. I’m sending the sunset because starting tomorrow the sun will be slowing making its way up the bay until the Summer Solstice when the sunset will be directly in front of my house. Tomorrow the day will be just a little longer.
I was just watching the weather channel with the photos of all the really bad snows. Maryland truly is the Land of Pleasant Living; we have the changes of seasons, so far nothing very drastic.
Since I’ve lived in Ocean City, Maryland I’ve only seen snow twice and then it was pretty, then gone. In six years I’ve seen the pond frozen over only once. I shudder to think that could happen today because we certainly aren’t prepared for that event. Why? The pond water hasn’t been lowered which could cause ice to stop the flow of the outfall pipe. That would have potential for flooding for residents on the pond.
